Meet Your Meat

As part of the ongoing and increasingly aggressive Bonez Save our Planet campaign, we present the infamous, disgusting and intensely thought provoking PETA movie, Meet Your Meat narrated by Alec Baldwin. If you've considered vegetarianism or not, you should at least be aware of where your food comes from and the environmental impact your food choices have on our world, your health and the animals.

The United States' meat addiction for farmed animals is wrecking havoc on our Earth and endangering future generations. Over half the water used in the U.S. goes to raising animals for food. Farmed animals produce 130 times more excrement (yes, shit) than our entire human population. Animal excrement pollutes our potable water and even seeps into the deep aquifers. It emits hydrogen sulfide and ammonia gases that poison the air and methane and nitrous oxide which contribute massively to global warming. Farmed animals consume 70 percent of the corn, wheat, and other grains we grow, and easily one-third of all the raw materials and fossil fuels used in the U.S. go to raising animals just for food. How inefficient and insane is that?

But its so TASTY! :)

I agree with you philosophically and meat and meat production does become an environmental issue at the large scale but there are ways to minimize the impact.

Near my house we started to get our meat from a local farm. All animals are grass feed on existing fields and butchered on site. It's as good as it's gonna get.

PETA tend to be extremists and would have everyone eating switchgrass and almonds.

Alec Baldwin is NOT a vegetarian! He's a hypocrite of the highest order, blech.

I can't believe I actually just went and researched this, but from what I've read Baldwin is, in fact, a vegetarian.

And a prick.

Not sure what difference it really makes if Alec Baldwin is a vegetarian or not... at least for this specific project. He's an actor and narrates for money. I would have to go back and look to see if he actually endorsed the video or paid to make it. Then that would make a difference. However, the message is that (at least the way it is today in our world) the mass production of farmed animals for food is harmful to the ecology and environment, to people as a whole, to our health and definitely to the animals. Geology Joe makes some valid points for alternative processes and that PETA is notoriously radical and extremist in their presentations. E also make a good point that, in his opinion and that of many other, Alec Baldwin is a prick. We at Bonez like to present both sides of the coin of any issue.
