Sir Bali the Golden Blanc

Sir Bali the Golden BlancSir Bali the Golden Blanc
February 11, 1991 - March 21, 2009

Out of Love and intent of Mercy we witnessed the euthanasia of our beloved eighteen year old Himalayan Persian, Sir Bali the Golden Blanc. At ten a.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time on March 21st, 2009 Sir Bali drew his last breath as we held him. He passed peacefully and without pain and I watched the light of life leave his beautiful golden eyes. Rest in Peace Beloved Friend, Guardian, Family Member and Ancient Wise Soul. We will always love and remember you. We are so very grateful for the time we shared on this Earth.

If it was the "right thing to do" then why the hell am I feeling like a damned murderer and guilty betrayer?

Forgive me, Bali.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Someone wrote once that losing our pets is losing the embodiment of our memories, which makes it a very difficult event. I felt the same after doing the right thing for one of mine, but I always tell others that our pets trust us to make those decisions and save them from pain. God bless.

Awwww, that is painful and saddening... I have been there before, and am fearing the same with my old girl, Tori, though, she is only like 11... feeling your pain, and praying for you and yours and Sir Bali... great cat, great name, and great master!
It's funny how we never get over them the same as with our people...
Blessings, and PEACE xoxxox

Losing a pet is an extremely upsetting prospect. It's one of the unfortunate consequences of taking in our animal brethren; we do so knowing full well that we will likely outlive them.

The good news is that you helped him retire from life with dignity. He was able to spend his final moments with those he cared for most and knew that he was loved until the end.

At least he lived a happy and fulfilling life and never wanted for anything. Take solace in the knowledge that he had everything he could ever ask for in his time on this planet.

The pain is great when these things first happen, but you will always be able to think back and have warm and happy memories.

I am sorry for your loss.

Hope ~ Thank you for your condolences and sympathies. Yes, Bali trusted us explicitly and I think that is what gives me the feelings of guilt and betrayal. He trusted us ... to keep him alive? I don't know, but I do know the pain is greater than I had imagined when we felt "forced" to make the decision. I take solace in the fact that we treated him with great respect and love through the whole ordeal and then took him to a beautiful pet funerary chapel and spent time with him before releasing his remains for cremation.

Lynda ~ Thank you for the empathy and sending of Peace and Blessings. Bali's passing has made me more keenly aware of Lexi (Alexis Blue) turning nine this year. She is a registered Russian Blue female that is the absolute love of my life. She is my constant companion when I am home and sleeps all night every night cuddled up to me. The Bali experience has me looking for her "arrangements" so I will not be struggling with those decisions when her time comes.

Also, I think Bali's was so devastating because I kept flashing on my brother's illness and transition. Even to the point of seeing Charles in Bali's face at times. Strange, I know, but still difficult to deal with.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My pets are like my children and I know how terrible I would feel if faced with that decision.
You made the right one.
Allowing him to suffer would have been more horrible for both of you.

Blonde Goddess ~ Thank you, BG. My pets are like my children or family member companions, too. I have two other cats, Lexi (mentioned above) is definitely MY CAT (except we all know we are THEIR HUMAN) who will be nine in September and Nemo who will be six in May.
I have to hold that I made the right decision at the right time for the greatest and highest good of Bali and his trust in me... I have to believe that.

Damn you for posting this. I'm tearing up on my end because I have my first cat ever getting older in age.

My cats are my children and included as part of the family, so I can understand what you're going through. She looked like a beautiful creature.

My heart goes out to you. So very sorry to hear about your loss.

Wayne ~ Thank you for visiting Bonez. I will be checking out your interesting site in much more detail over the next few days.

Bali was indeed beautiful and you are not the first to confuse that beauty as indicative of a female :) Sir Bali was indeed male and lived his whole life being told how beautiful She was :) In fact, his Mommy person, who assisted in his delivery and held him in his passing, thought he was a female the first three months of his life. She named him Peaches (giggling now) and poor Bali never really ever lived it down his entire life. Though none dare call him Peaches after he was awarded his official registered title of Sir Bali the Golden Blanc.

Thank you for your support and empathy. The rewards of sharing your life with a pet can be tremendous but the pain of their departure can be devastating.
