Corporations have no limitations on who, what or how they will exploit for selfish profit. Corporations have taken a twisted advantage of the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution of the United States that provided a broad definition of citizenship that granted rights to blacks to vote and own property. The Fourteenth Amendment's Due Process clause allowed corporations to claim themselves as protected individuals with the rights of a citizen in due process. Corporations have, in principle, been given the status of a legal “person.” The sole purpose of this bastardization of the law is to create wealth for corporation owners while allowing them to escape responsibility for the corporation’s actions. Thus, the laws have been manipulated to give corporations more freedom to operate outside of the law and ignore what is good for overall humanity's welfare and health. So, if corporations are treated as individuals then what kind of individual or personal morality or code of conduct do they possess and uphold?
In today's world, everything ... everything ... is up for grabs to possess and pervert for corporate profiteering. Every plant, animal, molecule and even our own DNA is fair game for corporations to patent as sole ownership to hold hostage something that was considered free, public domain, or even personal. This allows many of the basics necessary for human comfort and existence to be "owned" by something wanting to sell you something you used to have for free or by right.
Governments used to protect us from corporations by defining boundaries of exploitation and operation. Today, governments are openly inviting corporations into areas they were restrained from in the past. In other words, corporations have now bought the governments and are using them for their gain, as well.
Interestingly enough, the film reveals that corporations meet the diagnostic criteria of a psychopath. Psychopaths are defined as selfish and ruthless in their behavior with a propensity to pathological lying and a grandiose sense of self-worth. Add to that an inability to feel guilt or remorse and I am sure you can think of a company or three that definitely fits the definition. That's the kind of "person" we are dealing with when dealing with a corporate entity.
Corporations become the proverbial "They" we all whisper about. They demonstrate harm, disloyalty, and lack of concern for their workers. They disregard human health and welfare as the profit points warrant. Animals? Tools to manipulate and degrade in search of means and methods to produce more money, faster and cheaper no matter the horrible treatment of the creatures or environment. The biosphere is their playground to pollute and corrupt and destroy in the name of greater profit. Nothing else matters.

and THEY are reading this, wondering how and when they will get you next.
GeoJoe ~ Corporations and deceitful governments don't threaten me. I have a strength inside they cannot control or break and I think you do, too. I love conspiracy theories but they are just that ... theories based loosely on disjointed "facts" and bits of data that really don't reveal the real Truth but may give us a glimpse through the fog at the Truth and the man behind the curtain. I do know that corporations and government(s) are incestuous bedfellows, though, and should be looked at with awareness that their primary function and goals do not include our best interests.
I like this post. Glad you said what you said, because it seems like it's the elephant in the room that no one cares to talk about.
I, for one, care less for corporations. They could all crumble and die and I'd be a happy little clam.
So tired of the go to school, go to college, get a job, work work work, retire and die attitude that is so pervasive in life.
It doesn't need to be that way. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone has the balls to try to change it.
Corporations are just as bad as big government.
Power corrupts all forms of large entities.
Wayne ~ Wow, is it ever the elephant in the middle of the room that ever is acting like it isn't there! It stinks like pachyderm shit, too, Dude :) I know what you mean about the mindset that the American Dream has created in our societal thinking. "They" continue to beat it into our children... kids are learning things in Middle School that used to be reserved for college level courses. Start them younger and dope them up pretending they are ADHD or ADD or whatever the frakk they end up labeling them as justification for stealing their humanity. I don't think it is the matter of anyone having the balls to stand up to them as it them flaunting their supremacy over the masses and enforcing their impunity from the laws that we try to live by. Primarily because they (corporations) have Uncle Sugar in their right hip pockets.
Ole Blue ~ Corporations ARE big government. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
