Dita Von Teese Burlesque Superheroine

Dita Von TeeseBorn in Rochester, Michigan on September 28, 1972, Heather Renée Sweet was the pride and joy of her manicurist mother and mechanic father. Little did they realize that their Sweet Heather (not a bad stripper name) would grow up to be the sultry and oh so sexy burlesque queen and fetish model, Dita Von Teese.

Von Teese was consumed with several passions while growing up. One was lingerie and the other was a fascination for 1940's deco style and movie stars. Her favorite actress is Greta Garbo and her affinity to the famous pin-up model Bettie Page is obvious in her work.

She worked in a lingerie store at the age of fifteen and was a stripper by the age of nineteen. Bored with the same old bump and grind routines, Dita began dressing in classic old style vintage lingerie and instantly set herself apart from the other girls.

Originally calling herself only "Dita" she changed her name once Playboy insisted she also use a last name for her photo spreads.

Everyone makes mistakes and poor choices from time to time and Dita is no exception. She made the unfortunate decision to marry slimy shock rocker Marilyn Manson. Thankfully, this problem was rectified after about a year through a divorce once Manson started cheating on her. Yeah, he's one warped poor excuse for a human being.

Don't let Von Teese's coal black hair fool you because she's a natural blond. Her tiny five foot three inch one hundred and five pound frame and alabaster white skin gives her a neo-goth look. These looks make her attractive to those guys and gals who find Goth chicks hot and allows her to still lure in the non-goth dudes, as well. She borders on the fetish underground but garners mainstream acceptance.

Dita Von Teese was one of the prime instigators of the modern burlesque revival. She has proven that true beauty is indeed ageless.
