I ask the very same question time and again. It seems that, in this country, we won't see real progress until it's the last hope, the last possibility, the only way for us to get from point A to point B when we wake up some morning and realize all other resources are gone. :(

The frustration is that we (the world) have the technology and the wherewithall to cut our dependency on oil so much more than we do. With alternative fuels, more fuel efficient engines, and even oil-less cars... I sincerely feel we could cut our need for foregin oil in half if not more in a very short time (less than five years if we are aggressive). But of course, it all boils down to money and big business... the ones who really control our world and our lives.
