Who by Fire

Ever since I heard him sing for the first time he swept me of my feet and claimed a place in my heart forever. This is one of the most beautiful versions of this song I that I ever heard. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I do.

Excellent. I've been a Leonard Cohen fan for quite a while. My first exposure was actually "First We Take Manhattan" by REM!

@markoni, ever since Susanne was launched I have been following him around. Cohen is a man who seems ageless and his lyrics are as strong as they were all those years ago

This is so haunting and almost sounds "religious". Does anyone know the story behind the lyrics?

According to my life accomplice, this speaks of the decline of American culture, as least as far as what is currently represented on television. This was from the David Sanborn show, where all manner of astonishing artists were given a prime time TV shot and even more astonishingly, were encouraged to collaborate. You're never again in life going to see Sonny Rollins accompany a singer/songwriter. You're never again in life going to see Leonard Cohen accompanied by a saxophonist of the colossal stature of Sonny Rollins. Do you think you'll ever see anything as risk-taking as this on major network American TV again?

As far as the story behind the lyrics...like every other Cohen song, what it's about may be the mystery of what it's about.

hehe. How's that?
