Thy Yellowest Story Ever Told

Of course it got good ratings! There are so many Simpsons fans in the world, it's impossible that it didn't get good ratings. The movie was not that funny, yet there were some parts that made you giggle. I am a Simpsons fan myself, but in my opinion the TV show is way more hilarious than the big screen version. If you have every Simpsons comic book ever created, I strongly urge you to go see this movie.

While I agree that it does not come close to the halcyon days of seasons 3-9, I found the movie quite enjoyable a good bit better than the last 9 seasons.

I think the movie sucked big blue ones and blew huge chunks of goo. Only a zombiefied fanboy would think there was anything even remotely creative or entertaining about a majority of that wasted film. I know I am putting myself on the line here and may be assaulted by legions of Simpsons wannabes but the truth is the creative team blew an opportunity to really do something impressive and memorable for the fans and to bring in new fans.

I think you're being a tad hyperbolic there, Tony. Agreed, it was not as good as the best seasons of that show. But I enjoyed the story, thought there quite a few clever jokes and thought that Marge really got to show an emotional base for her character. Could it have been better? Of course. The show is way past its prime and they've simply run out of ideas, but on the whole it entertained, and that was all it needed to do. I'd still take it over 90% of the crap that Hollywood spews.

Speaking of Marge... I have to admit that I did get turned on just a little when she was in her skimpy nightie. So maybe the movie wasn't as worthless as I hyperboled.

Then you should watch Life in the Fast Lane from Season One. Not the first time we've seen it. :P

I am surprised that you didn't post some Marge erotica links to tantalize me instead of just teasing me with something from season one.

It was late. I was tired. I swore that I DID post that link. Weird.

E, you did.

Ok, sorry I couldn't answer any of your comments, I was having such an enjoyable time watching you guys talk about how spewy of the blue chunks The Simpsons movie was.

Sorry, I cannot agree to that statement. I enjoyed it and have seen it 3 times. :P I will continue enjoying it. But for the real goods, watch anything from seasons 3 through 9. Them's the sweet spot.

So, everything before season 3 and after season 9 is crap? Has anyone tried to combine a true "Best Of" that would pull the few gems out of seasons 1 - 3 and 10 thru infinity? Sounds like a good job and life calling for you, My Friend E. Okay, so my goal is to collect Seasons 3 thru 9 and forget about the rest and not worry about the lackluster movie effort and hope that Maggie's promised sequel finally measures up to expectations and potential.

Season 1 was just rough. They hadn't come into their stride yet. Season 2 was better, but they don't hold up as well. And yes, pretty much everything starting around season 10 is crap. There are still a few good ones here and there, but in 3-9 they're almost all classics.
