Goosebumps, what a great voice!

I agree, Marloes... she has a haunting quality about her vocals and even though I didn't like the lack of depth of her lyrics she still does a very entertaining performance. I will keep my eye on this young talent and hope for her to be discovered. I much prefer finding true talent online than by having it shoved into my face by the likes of American Idol which are usually a bunch of industry created "talents" that aren't even close to being true stars.

Idols...what on earth do peopel see in these programms? They did find a talent or two in Holland that way, but they mainly are good enough to be in musicals, no huge international breakthrough. Thank heavens our daughter (who has a great voice but is also still taking lessions) has enough sense never to audition for a programm like that.

After watching much of this season's American Idol selection process (much to my unhappiness) I saw that the whole thing is nothing more than a joke and a humilation of 99% of the Idol wannabes. Those selected were not necessarily any better than many of the ones not selected.

A good example of this is Miss Ysabellabrave on YouTube who is beautiful and musically talented beyond belief, but she was passed up when she auditioned for Idol. I think they are looking ONLY for what will make their show interesting and bring in viewers and thus advertising dollars. It has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with money and making the judges look superior and even more famous than they really are.

So, if you look freaky and can half-assed sing you're on. If you have some sad sob story and can sort of sing then you are on. If you are beautiful and can't sing a note then you might still be on if they can figure out how to present you without appearing the slept with you.

Of course, I am writing much of this tongue-in-cheek but I sincerely do think American Idol is a waste of time for the viewers and the contestants but a big money machine for the network and the few insiders running it.

American idols, Dutch, French, german...all the idol programs are a waste of time. I can't for the life of me imagine why anyone would want to watch them.

We agree on so much, Marloes :) But, the unfortunate truth is that the likes of Idol exists solely because of money. Though I cannot fanthom someone feeling such shows are really entertaining it must be so or there wouldn't be such a huge worldwide following. Of course, I feel the same way about nearly every reality show I've ever seen. I am also sure that much of what I do consider to be entertainment is not so entertaining to many others but that's what makes the world go round, eh? I just wonder what sort of programming we could all be enjoying if the efforts and monies for such trash as Idol and other reality TV shows were turned toward real creative entertainment ventures.
