I've always had a fascination with skulls and the skeletal structures of humans and animals. That's why when I found the California Academy of Sciences Skulls website I was impressed with the diversity of information provided. The site was created to promote an exhibit in 2003 but is still online and active and chock full of interesting facts and pictures. One of my favorite sections is the Skulls in Culture portion that highlights the symbolism of skulls in various cultures. Skulls have long been featured in art to symbolize different concepts about both life and death in religious and secular thought.
