NASA and SETI Jointly Speculate on Alien Lifeforms

alien lifeformIs there life on other planets? If so, what would it look like? Is it really important? No. Which is why the question is posed here on Bonez. One question that won't be answered is how much money is wasted on such inane projects as this that NASA and SETI have undertaken. Money better spent on true space research to help humankind or toward the advancement of medical research to address real issues right here on our own planet? I think we should seek the stars, but only as long as it does not divert from taking care of our own every day problems we face as Earthlings.

True, Blue. That's my point exactly. I believe there is "enough" in this world to take care of everyone if it is used wisely. Such silly projects as what NASA and SETI have undertaken does not contribute to the common good of humankind in any way. I think that all governmental monies spent should have to be justified by "What does this do to help or improve the conditions of the world." Of course, the radical application of this thought could be applied to many areas of business, as well, and that would mean a complete shift in mindset for the population as a whole. Is that even possible? Probably not in our lifetime, but I can always dream.

I am not saying we should do away with frivilous spending on entertainment and other "non-essentials" since it can be argued that those often have tangible merit in some some remote or disjointed way. I am primarily calling for an accounting of the use of government funds which are to be used for the betterment of us all. This includes all free-world governments since the U.S. is not alone in the misuse and abuse of their people's money.
