Real Life Giant Walking Battle Bots Exist

Giant RobotForget Star Wars and a galaxy far, far away. Sakakibara Kikai, a Japanese firm north of Tokyo, has developed and are field testing a very Star Wars-like walking mech. Click the picture to the left or this link to see videos and more images. Battle capable robots have long been under development by many countries like North Korea, United Kingdom, and the United States, among others. The U.S. Army even has a special section on their official website touting their progress in combat robotics. Of course, they aren't going to show you the cutting edge good stuff they don't want the enemy reading about on the net. You think those cute little Sony Aibo dogs and your kid's Robosapien are just toys and not stages in the progression of robots in our society that we are financing? I laugh at your ignorance and would do it in your face if your head wasn't buried so deeply in the sand. Even the unsuspecting homeowner who purchases a Roomba vacuum cleaner is supporting military combat robotics development through the like of iRobot. I just realized this sounds like a mad rant against the advancement of robotics in the military but it's not. I fully support having machines get blown apart instead of sacrificing human lives in senseless war. Besides, the military development of technologies always bleed (no pun intended) over into the civilian sectors and we all benefit.
